# Slack & Teams

> Bring Caplena's AI insights into Slack and Microsoft Teams — set up the bot, choose an access mode, and follow best practices.

With the Slack and Microsoft Teams integrations, your team can query your customer feedback data and get instant answers — right where they collaborate every day. No switching tabs, no manual searches — just ask questions and get instant summaries, trends, and answers.

<Note>
  The bot can only query projects that have been set to **Live**. [Learn how to set a project to Live →](/get-started/project-settings/setting-a-project-to-live)

## Configuring Access Mode (Slack & Teams)

After connecting your workspace, you'll be guided to the Access Mode setting automatically. You can also return to it at any time from **Settings → Integrations** by clicking on the integration.

  <img src="https://mintcdn.com/caplena-32172960/f2rnYDTA58YE-8u7/images/Screenshot-2026-05-27-at-16.41.18.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=f2rnYDTA58YE-8u7&q=85&s=5b20cbafb0701a5541ed188be30c22c4" alt="Screenshot 2026 05 27 At 16 41 18" title="Screenshot 2026 05 27 At 16 41 18" className="mx-auto" style={{ width:"72%" }} width="1722" height="1574" data-path="images/Screenshot-2026-05-27-at-16.41.18.png" />

**Global Access** *(default)* — All Slack or Teams users can query any project marked as `Live`. No individual Caplena account authentication is required.

**Per-user Access** — Users must sign in with their Caplena account the first time they interact with the Caplena bot. From then on, they can only query projects, reports, and views they have permission to access.

## Best Practices for Microsoft Teams & Slack

**Create a public #insights channel**

Set up a shared "Insights" channel where team members can query Caplena for findings. This helps everyone discover what the bot can do, learn from each other's use cases, discuss insights together, and keep knowledge accessible across the team.

<Frame>
  <img src="https://mintcdn.com/caplena-32172960/f2rnYDTA58YE-8u7/images/Screenshot-2026-05-27-at-16.43.27.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=f2rnYDTA58YE-8u7&q=85&s=fc9f50779ed4050d38495399f5d1f4f4" alt="Screenshot 2026 05 27 At 16 43 27" width="2960" height="1684" data-path="images/Screenshot-2026-05-27-at-16.43.27.png" />
</Frame>

**How Caplena works in public channels**

In public channels, the bot will always reply **in a thread**. Each thread automatically links to **one specific project** on Caplena. Make sure to **@Caplena** in every new reply to trigger a response.

**How Caplena works in private channels**

In private channels, Caplena doesn't use threads. Click **"New Conversation"** whenever you want to ask about a different project, start fresh without previous context, or the conversation thread has become too long. A new conversation will also be created automatically every few days.
