# Managing AI Updates (Legacy AI)

> Control your model's behavior to balance consistency with continuous learning.

Caplena gives you control over how your AI model evolves. You can now **pause AI learning** while still allowing automatic topic assignment when new data is uploaded, ensuring consistent results without unexpected changes.

## What Are AI Updates?

**AI Updates** refer to Caplena's ability to continuously improve your model based on manual reviews and topic corrections.

By turning AI Updates **off**, you can **freeze the model**, keeping topic assignments stable as new data is analyzed.

## How to Enable or Disable AI Updates

To control AI learning in your project:

* Go to the **Topics** view in your project
* Click the **three-dot menu** (⋮) in the top-right corner
* In the **Settings** pop-up, find the **"AI Updates"** toggle
* **Turn OFF** to pause AI learning
* **Turn ON** to allow the AI to learn from manual reviews again

## What Happens When AI Updates Are Disabled?

| Feature | Behavior |
| :------------------------------- | :---------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Learning from manual edits** | ❌ Disabled — no new training based on your edits |
| **Topic assignment on new data** | ✔️ Still active — existing model continues assigning topics |
| **AI Scores** | ✔️ Frozen — scores remain stable and unchanged |

## When Should You Disable AI Updates?

Disabling AI Updates is ideal when:

* You want **consistent scoring** across reports or time periods
* You've finished training your model and don't want further changes
* You're preparing deliverables where score stability is important
